The Lizzie Borden -centered installment of filmmaker Ryan Murphy’s true-crime anthology series Monster has remained controversial since its September 17 release.

What started with viewers being left queasy by an “ unnecessarily graphic ” projectile-vomiting sequence soon expanded into criticism of the show’s lesbian plotlines.

The series later brought notorious homicidal offender Aileen Wuornos into the story, “ baffling ” netizens with how two women from different centuries could fit into the same narrative.

Now, just when audiences thought the eight-part production had exhausted its ability to shock them, another moment has sparked a fresh wave of outrage.

One particularly displeased individual demanded that “everyone involved should be blacklisted.”

Lizzie was accused of ending the lives of her father, Andrew, and stepmother, Abby, with a hatchet in 1892.

She was tried for the crime but was never convicted, making the case one of the most discussed unresolved criminal mysteries in America.

A series with such a serious theme would be expected to stay dark through and through, but Ryan Murphy chose to explore that darkness in an eccentric way.
